HEO Midget AAA is pleased to announce that ‘2002 born L’Orignal, ON native Yanic Crete has been named 2017-18 Rookie of the Year.

The 6-0, 170lb two-way forward from the Hawkesbury Hawks Midget AAA program finished the season with 49 points (20G, 29A) in 41 games, placing him 4th overall in league scoring. His 29 assists were third best in the league, while his 6 Game-Winning Goals were second.

“Yanic has been a tremendous addition to the Hawks this season,” said Hawks Head Coach Carl Robillard. “He has been incredibly consistent in all facets of the game. He plays a very solid 200-foot game and has become a very reliable face off man in key moments of the game. His personal statistics demonstrate the kind of player he truly is, both a dangerous goal scorer, but also a tremendous play-maker.  The dual threat keeps opponents guessing.  Congratulations Yanic, you make us all proud!”

Along with having a tremendous season with the Midget AAA program, Crete also dressed for 3 games with the CCHL’s Hawkesbury Hawks and represented HEO at the Marlies Holiday Classic and Peterborough Tournament of Champions.

He was selected by Hawkesbury in the 1st round, 5th overall in the 2017 CCHL Bantam Protect Draft.
