OTTAWA, ON – Selected in the 9th round of the 2022 Central Canada Hockey League Bantam Protected Draft by the Hawkesbury Hawks, 2007 born Cornwall, ON native Colton Rheaume has shown big time ability in his rookie season of HEO U18 AAA.
At 6-3, 150 lbs, Rheaume has the prototypical size for his position and still has room to grow at just 15-years old. He is positionally sound and always seeming to keep himself set and ready to stop the puck. Even after giving up a goal he rebounds very quickly and gets back into focus. Laterally he moves with ease and has excellent reflexes and flexibility. He gives opposing shooters headaches when they think they have a sure goal only to be denied in the last instant by a quick reflex save.
On the year, Rheaume sits with a 6-5-0-1 record and leads all rookie goaltenders with a .932 SV% and 2.07 GAA. His 3 Shutouts place him in a tie for the entire league lead.
Prior to his time in HEO U18 AAA, Rheaume came up through the Eastern Ontario Wild AAA and Cornwall Colts Minor Hockey programs.
