HEO Midget AAA is pleased to announce that ‘2002 born Newboro, ON native Nolan Seed has been named the 2017-18 Defenseman of the Year.

In his 1st season with the Smiths Falls Bears Midget AAA program, Seed tallied 5 goals and finished with 25 points in 41 games of action, placing him 3rd overall in scoring among league defensemen.

“Nolan came into the league as an already elite and individually skilled player, specifically as an offensive defenseman”, said Bears Head Coach Tony Lopez. “It was his commitment to learning and becoming stronger defensively that has helped him become more well-rounded. He has become much harder to play against while also showing great vision and the ability to create offensive opportunities. The thing about Nolan is that he shows respect, passion, and a genuinely love for the game which I believe will allow him to do special things moving forward in his career.”

The 6-0, 160lb smooth skating two-way defender also represented HEO at both the Marlies Holiday Classic and Peterborough Tournament of Champions and is projected to be an early round selection in the upcoming OHL Draft.

Seed also dressed in 5 games with the CCHL’s Smiths Falls Bears where he picked up his first career Junior A assist.
