Ottawa, ON – HEO Midget AAA is pleased to announce that Connor Lockhart of the Kanata Lasers has been named winner of the 2018-19 Top Rookie Award.

The 2003 born Kanata, ON native finished tied for 1st overall in Points (79), while leading all players in Assists (49), and Powerplay Points (21) in 41 games of action. He also represented Team Ontario at the Canada Winter Games, where he helped them to a Silver Medal and registered 7 points (4G, 3A) in 6 games.

“Connor was a joy to coach this year, and the best player I have ever coached so far,” said Kanata Head Coach Matt Bougie. “He is dynamic on his skates, and can make a play out of nothing. He has game-breaking ability, as he can beat defenders 1 on 1 with slick moves. He can use his accurate shot to beat opposing goalies, while also being able to draw defenders towards him and then dish the puck off to a teammate for a wide open net goal.  He also plays a very sound 200-foot game, making him an extremely valuable player to have on the ice at all times.”

Along with his tremendous statistical success at the U18 level, Lockhart was also able to dress in 3 games with the CCHL’s Kanata Lasers where he picked up his first career junior goal.  He is a top prospect for the upcoming OHL Priority Selection Draft.
