Ottawa, ON – HEO Midget AAA is pleased to announce that Mason McTavish of the Pembroke Lumber Kings has been named the winner of the 2018-19 Top Prospect Award.

The 2003 born Carp, ON native led all HEO Midget AAA skaters in Goals (47), Game-Winning Goals (8), and Tied for 1st overall in Points (79) in 41 games of action.

“One of the most impressive things about Mason is his desire to compete”, said Pembroke Head Coach Jarrett DeFazio. “He wants to win, and he wants the puck on his stick to create offense. You can tell how much he loves the game, and that energy rubs off on other players. He cares about his teammates, and has one of the most heavy yet equally quick releases I have ever seen. When he creates speed coming through the neutral zone, it’s like a freight train coming at you that you don’t want want to get in the way of.”

As well as posting incredible numbers in his rookie season of U18, McTavish also dressed in 5 games for the CCHL’s Pembroke Lumber Kings, where he totaled 7 points (3G, 4A), playing against much older competition.
