Ottawa, ON – HEO Midget AAA is pleased to announce that Ottawa Jr Senators Brendan Bays has been named winner of the 2019 Top Defenseman Award.

The 2002 born Ottawa, ON native is in his second season with Ottawa U18, where he has totaled 36 points (12G, 24A) through 44 games of action. He also dressed for 4 games in the CCHL with Ottawa.

“Brendan’s decision to return to play U18 this season was a bolster not only to his personal development, but also to the OJS blue line”, said Jr Sens Head Coach Steve Malette. “His powerful and accurate shot is a reason why he is tied for tops in the league among defenders. On top of his ability to produce goals, Brendan is a key component to the strong defensive play of our team. His leadership as team captain, and attitude on and off the ice has been instrumental in the success of our team.”

Bays was selected in the 5th round, 49th overall by the Ottawa Jr Senators in the 2017 Bantam Protect Draft.
