HEO Midget AAA is pleased to announce that ‘2001 born Arnprior, ON native Jesse Dick has been named 2017-18 Most Valuable Player.

In his 2nd season with the Pembroke Lumber Kings Midget AAA program, Dick led the league in points (60), while finishing 2nd in Goals (30), and Assists (30).

“Jesse was named an Assistant Captain this year, a role he delivered on providing leadership on and off the ice this to the new players,” said Pembroke Head Coach Jerrett DeFazio. “He is a quiet leader who does his talking on the ice but as the season progressed his level of leadership and positive messaging on the bench and in the room was quite evident to all and it had a direct impact on the teams second half improvement and success”.

“Jesse has an uncanny ability to keep the puck on his stick through traffic with great hands and his ability to read plays in advance has him thinking the game one step ahead.  He can act both as a passer and shooter, which shows in the stats with 30 goals and 30 assists evenly.  Jesse is as quick with the puck on his stick as off and his acceleration through the neutral zone is fun to watch”

“Finally as his Coach I am very proud of Jesse for slightly adjusting his game.  As a Centre he played a more 200-foot game, that adjustment made him even more dangerous and all the difference for him in an MVP season in addition to his development for the next level,” added DeFazio.

The two-way forward also represented HEO at the Peterborough Tournament of Champions and saw action with the CCHL2’s Whitewater Kings where he posted 2 assists in 3 games of action.

In 84 career regular season games, the 5-10, 170lb forward has scored 43 goals and totaled 96 points.
