Leaver, Enright, Lockhart, and McTavish named to Team Ontario for Canada Winter Games

 

Ottawa, ON – The Ontario Hockey League announced the Team Ontario roster today who will represent the province at the upcoming Canada Winter Games in Red Deer, AB.

Held every four years, the Canada Winter Games showcases the top under-16 hockey talent across the country. Team Ontario enters the event as the defending hockey gold medalists, having defeated Team Alberta four years ago in Prince George, BC. Greg Meireles, who leads the OHL’s Kitchener Rangers in scoring this season, was the lone Hockey Eastern Ontario player on that squad.

This time around, four rising stars from HEO Midget AAA have made the team, including goaltender Patrick Leaver (Smiths Falls Bears), defenseman Isaac Enright (Pembroke Lumber Kings), forward Mason McTavish (Pembroke Lumber Kings), and forward Connor Lockhart (Kanata Lasers).

 

G – Patrick Leaver

The Perth, ON native is currently 8-7-7 on the season, sporting a .900 SV%, 2.82 GAA, and 2 Shutouts.

 

D – Isaac Enright

The Cobden, ON native sits 2nd overall in scoring among rookie defensemen with 21 points (5G, 16A) in 34 games. He also picked up 1 assist in 4 games of action with the CCHL’s Pembroke Lumber Kings.

 

F – Mason McTavish

The Carp, ON native leads the entire HEO Midget AAA circuit in scoring as a rookie with 65 points (36G, 29A) in 36 games.  In his 5 games he affiliated with Pembroke of the CCHL, he amassed 7 points (3G, 4A). 

 

F – Connor Lockhart

The Kanata, ON native sits 2nd overall in league scoring with 61 points (27G, 34A) in 35 games, his 34 assists are a league best. He also picked up 1 goal in 3 games with the CCHL’s Kanata Lasers.
