OTTAWA, ON – Selected in the 1st round of the 2022 Central Canada Hockey League Bantam Protected Draft by the Smiths Falls Bears, Ottawa, ON native Peter Legostaev stepped right into a top line position as a rookie in HEO U18 AAA and has shown his strong two-way ability down the center of the ice.
Very few have the combination of his size and skill, especially at the center position the way Legostaev does. He is a very deceptive forward that has a nose for finding the back of the net and scoring big goals. He is a skilled center with a big frame which helps him drive the play up the ice and makes it very difficult to be knocked off the puck. His best attributes would be his high-level hockey IQ and playmaking abilities, which make him a very dangerous two way forward who is good on both sides of the puck.
On the season, Legostaev finished 5th among league rookies with 49 points (25G, 24A) in just 34 games of action. He also helped Team Ontario claim the Gold Medal at the 2023 Canada Winter Games.
Prior to his time in U18AAA, Legostaev came up through the Myers AAA and Kanata Blazers AA Minor Hockey programs.
