OTTAWA, ON – Selected in the 4th round of the 2022 Central Canada Hockey League Bantam Protected Draft by the Nepean Raiders, Ottawa, ON native Max Shewfelt was a definite bright spot, especially down the stretch in his rookie season in HEO U18 AAA.
Shewfelt is a player who brings a lot of speed and energy to the ice and has crafty hands in tight spaces. He had a flurry of highlight-reel goals through out the season, showing his ability to be a game-breaker. Aside from his speed, Shewfelt also brings physicality to the table and isn’t afraid to go to the tough areas of the ice. He shows patience with the puck and can act as a set-up man just as much as a finisher. He got better and better as the games became more important, showing that he can find a new gear when the season is on the line.
After a regular season that saw him totalling 24 points (7G, 17A) in 39 games, Shewfelt was a scoring machine in the playoffs as he posted 8 points (6G, 2 A) in 7 games.
Prior to his time in HEO U18 AAA, Shewfelt came up through the Myers AAA and Nepean AA and B Minor Hockey programs.
