ROOKIE SPOTLIGHT | CHARLIE LAROCQUE | CARLETON PLACE CANADIANS

OTTAWA, ON – Selected in the 2nd round of the 2022 Central Canada Hockey League Bantam Protected Draft by the Carleton Place Canadians, Kanata, ON native Charlie Larocque has been a huge presence between the pipes for the Canadians during his rookie season of HEO U18 AAA

Larocque is big bodied, quick moving and seemingly always in position. He has been a steady presence in the crease for Carleton Place right from the onslaught. Larocque has shown the ability to stand on his head and steal games when needed. His high IQ is shown in his ability to play the puck to relieve pressure or to start an odd man rush down the ice. His calm presence has been a great asset for his teammates.

“Charlie has been an absolute pleasure to work with,” said Canadians Goalie Coach Matt Dopud. “His positive attitude combined with his strong work ethic always makes it fun to get on the ice and work with him. His dedication and perseverance are what makes him a natural teammate. Charlie’s strong on-ice skills are complimented with a commitment of good daily off-ice habits. He is a bigger goalie who is quick and agile. His calm demeanor relaxes the teams when they need a momentum swing. Charlie is a 7th defenseman on the team and his puck playing abilities are one of the best in his age group. His ability to read and react to plays slows the game down and gives the team a chance to win every night.”

“Charlie is a well-rounded person with a good support system of his family and friends. He is always looking to improve everyday on and off the ice. Charlie expects a lot of himself and he works hard at meeting his personal goals.”

In 16 games on the season, Larocque has a record of 7-5-0-3 with a .913 SV%, 2.75 GAA, and 1 Shutout.

Prior to his time in HEO U18 AAA, Larocque came up through Myers AAA and Kanata Blazers AA programs.
